I've had access to MicrosoftWord for a long time. When I was a kid, I used it to write plays for my friends and I, or I would pretend I was writing a very important document, when actually I had no idea what it was I was writing. As I grew older, my reasons for its use became much more academic. Now, I use it for class notes, essays, and planning & organizing. My teachers would use it to make handouts and flyers for class assignments and homework, syllabi, and lesson plans. As a future teacher, it appears that I will be using this medium for a long time and for just about the same reasons as I use it now.
I've known about copyright for as long as I can remember. In elementary school, and every year afterwards, we were told to not plagiarize. I honestly haven't dealt with fair use in a way I can remember, but reading the article did inform me on how it is different from copyright and the specific policies it covers. As I teacher, I understand that I will need to do plenty of research before using another person's material especially because of fair use. I will make sure my students understand the copyright laws so they won't face any trouble in their academic career and in their professional career. I will use, and encourage my students to use, mediums where they create their own work like Word, Prezi, Powerpoint, and any other source that will help the students.
