Blog Post 5
The podcast listed off some Web 2.0 tools that I think would be very helpful in the classroom like YouTube, class blogs, Wikis, and Diigo. Class blogs and YouTube are the most helpful in my opinion because on a Wiki site, anyone can add or change the information and I don't want to give my students information that is not credible, and at this point in time I am still trying to learn Diigo. It is a little overwhelming for me at the moment but hopefully through our class assignments I can master it and use it effectively in the classroom once I am a teacher.
Class blogs sound like they would be very helpful to me as a teacher so that I can communicate with my students. When I was in high school we used class blogs like Edmodo for teachers and students to communicate and the teachers were able to upload files for homework, study guides, and other document we needed for class. You can access Edmodo through this link https://www.edmodo.com.
I really think that electronic paper could make the biggest impact on the future of education. It really stood out to me because if you think about it: no more printed anything. No more paper handouts, no more paper study guides, no more paper practice sheets. As an elementary school teacher would I be teaching my students to write on tablets and typing instead of cursive and print writing? It seems so odd to me that in my life time, education has gone from chalk boards and lessons on an overhead projector (not the EPSON projectors over student heads, I'm talking about the one teachers had to lean over and write on with special markers and clear laminate paper), to smart boards, chrome books, and tablets.
