Blog Post #6
For my school website, I decided to look at the page for my old elementary school. I could not find specific class pages but I did find lots of tips for parents and school documents like the code of conduct, dress code and attendance policy, before/after school care program, and many other forms. There is a "Contact Us" page for parents where they can place a request to get in contact with the school faulty and administrators, or they can call the phone number provided at the bottom of the home page to reach the front office. The school's name is Pelican Elementary School and is a K-5 school with pre-k day care.
Spreadsheets for grading, Microsoft office for productivity, email for communication, and a class blog are some mediums I would use to have a more successful and technological classroom. Even though Diigo is a common way of bookmarking and annotating websites for this class, I don't think I will use it very often in the classroom. Then again, once I am in the field I may change my mind and find it very useful.
I believe that most of the technology that was shown to us in the Technology Sandbox could be used in the classroom. SmartBoards and projectors are already in most modern classrooms, but I think the touch screen board (unfortunately I don't remember the specific name) would be great, we did an activity on it where we matched flags to its country and the board allowed more than one person to do the activity, which would be great for when the students section off into groups for different subjects.
